For many, particularly in the news media, Donald Trump has put a focus on rural America—specifically, white rural America. And, for many of us, our stereotypes prevail when we consider ‘rural America.’
The marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger who was sent from the Battle of Marathon to Athens—26 miles away—to inform the Greeks that the Persians had been defeated. Legend has it that Pheidippides ran the entire 26 miles without stopping, and upon delivering his message, he collapsed and died.
This June, we are bringing together hundreds of people to talk about Jesus, culture, and our witness in the world. We are calling the conference Amplify: Reimagining Evangelism in Our Mission. We have carefully chosen those words—Reimagining Evangelism—for a reason. Let me explain.
